The text over the screen reads “2 week post TMR amputation update” End VD. #tmramputation #amputation #phantompain #crps #jia
Is the phantom limb pain worse than the crps pain?
Or like do you feel the difference and how does the difference feel.

hi. I had a Left Avove knee amputation 5 weeks ago due to CRPS complications. I too have phantom limb pain. my surgeon did not do TMR. I find that I need to do a lot of physical ambulatory movements in order to get exhausted to improve sleep. I use a cold gel head wrap around my nubb to calm flares. feel free to DM me for more tips

Amitriptyline helped my sleep a lot. I’m on 25mg, but going up to 50mg really increased my anxiety and heart rate

idk if we know why yet but there is a bunch of research out there that shows movement has a ton of benefits. being outside around green and nature also improves sense of wellbeing. im not a doctor or biologist tho I dont really understand the scientific research on movement

The wheelchair pushing helping is likely something along the lines of one pain numbing another logic. While pushing yourself and moving isn't necessarily directly painful (it might be, idk) your having to active other muscles and cut off and disturb some of the brain waves signaling the phantom pain, by creating new ones.

Phantom pains and overall sensations definitely lessen overtime, but in my case, definitely haven't gone away altogether. There are definitely still times that I think I can feel my foot but the sensations aren't always painful!!

You should be so proud of your progress!!! When the site has healed. It may be worth testing out a TENS machine? Also maybe see if you can get medicated lidocaine gel/creams. If that is suitable for the site, as it is healing. So may be cautious as to if they’ll prescribe because of infection risk. Sleep, amytriptlyn CAN work. But also offlicense use of mirtazipine of the lower dose. As lower dose helps sleep. But higher dose doesn’t? It is used to treat depression etc. hence why if used for sleep it would be classed as ‘off licence’. Daridaroxent and zolpiderm are very beneficial for sleep. With both need to practise sleep hygiene and set times to go to sleep. And then put phone/device down. And try not to keep clock watching. Can they try a muscle relaxant to help the pain? The muscles may be tense? Which could contribute to pain? Rest and take it easy hun xx keep going you’re doing amazing 💜🥰
