I think I'm general this is good advice, but I also think it's worth noting that the person who was "ignored" in your scenario really should work on reducing their co-dependance, because that's not a healthy interaction.

Definitely not all that is needed. It’s even more exhausting the second skit. Validating feelings is super important and having to do it all day everyday is definitely not healthy

That would work if there’s two mature adults knowing how to communicate and listen and comprehend the problem it takes would TWO people.. if you state your feelings and there other person gets defensive then the outcome is always dismissive

Once the current issue is resolved the future should be addressed cause I can easily see the “ignored” person walking away from this thinking the other person will change and reply in the future vs them being the one that shouldn’t always expect a reply.

That's called "weaponizing" intent. And it tells on itself. If you need to argue with your intentions, You're being selfish/neutral at BEST. If your intent is helpful, you will continue to be helpful by pivoting to accommodate that person (within reasonable boundaries, ofc.)

here's the version I see: A: clanking dishes and giving dirty looks B: "you seem mad. is everything ok?" A: "no! I didnt hear from you all day!"

Intention doesn’t cancel impact, and impact doesn’t automatically define intention.

this assumes the injuring parry wants to change their interaction, not the injured party. from that person's perspective what could they do differently?

Reflective-listen, validate, can still follow up with your intention (as non-defensively as possible)…ok, I get it (tho i know parts will often feel like masking to me). But then—what about the actual behavior? Using ur example: now do I have to start monitoring my phone more while at work & checking in even when I’m really busy?

I understand what you mean, and I agree with you, but maybe that example wasn’t the most fitting. What if the first person tried to understand why the other person didn’t respond before deciding to take it personally?

After over explaining myself for the last two years and feeling defeated, my bf came along your last video and said this really spoke to me! Now let’s see, if he can put this into action. Pray for me!
