the design of the AZ-5 button was the biggest mistake in history

I did Chernobyl as my research paper in school. It was not his fault. There are so many sites out there called “the man who caused it all” it is not his fault. It is the design of the reactor. It is not his fault I will take that to my grave.

he pushed that button cuz he wanted to reduce the reactor's power, but they didn't know that the button hadn't worked for 11 years

People have to stop watching the HBO show as if it's a documentary. It's not. It's entertainment

See that's why I keep saying the series is awesome but it's not reliable information source, they fabularized it and needed villains in the story

The real reason why this all happened was because some instructions where scratched out and on top of that the az-5 was not designed properly and the rods weren’t designed properly either

it was a routine shut down, from what I've researched, they had no way of knowing, he had no way of knowing there was a fault within reactor 4. its not his fault

it was the builder fault for nor doing the safety checks before they started up the reactor

There were so many dangerous things invented back then that lacked safety measures. In the footage I watched, they could have made a mistake with just one wrong button press at any time. Sometimes, simplicity itself is a form of safety, you don’t need to have too many complicated details.

I blame ego and design. It wasn’t necessarily his fault but adding ego into the equation didn’t help

He designed it yes, but it was not his fault. They wanted to much, the reactor wasn’t built for this kind of overload of energy.
