Hi, just a heads up that your video is a bit misleading. Canada doesn’t charge a flat “$500k exit tax” or prevent people from leaving. You can leave freely. There is something called a departure (exit) tax, but it mainly applies to people with significant assets. When someone becomes a non-resident, Canada treats certain assets as if they were sold and taxes any capital gains. For most people without large investments, this doesn’t result in anything close to that kind of number.
