Under infrared, gasoline cars glow bright orange and yellow from the engine, exhaust, and brakes. Electric vehicles stay mostly cool and dark. The reason is simple energy efficiency. Gas cars burn fuel through combustion. Around 60-70% of that energy becomes waste heat, not motion. It radiates from the engine block, catalytic converter, and exhaust system. EVs don’t use combustion. Most of their battery energy goes directly into motion. Motors generate some heat, but it’s minimal compared to a gas engine. Less wasted energy means a cooler thermal signature. Same road. Same speed. Completely different physics at work.
