I don’t think that’s it. I think it’s because they have an empty resume.

It always feels like retail and fast food companies look to see who they can screw over and thats why they dont hire everyone.

yeah so, fast food does not offer a ladder for advancement. so they should not seek employees that they expect to retain especially when they are willing to fire people for very minor issues

if you have a masters degree and youre applying for maccies, you think they'd be smart enough to take the degree off of their c.v

like I get it but also when you are applying to hundreds of apps and modifications for every job to still get rejected by the jobs that anyone is supposed to be able to work is so exhausting.

Same thing if a job posts “3-5 years experience in whatever” and you have 18 years experience. Most employers in this situation would think you’re just looking for a place holder job until you get to that higher level.

I have a Masters and professional license. I'm hanging on to my current job as long as possible because I know I'm not going to find another.

Fast food restaurants don’t expect employees to build long-term careers there. They have high turnover rates and assume most people will quit. The real issue is that many people with master’s degrees have no experience, and being 21 to 25 with no experience doesn’t look good.

FreightTok :
Even simpler: a masters degree doesn’t make you fit as a McDonald’s employee so technically they’re under qualified to work there. That piece of paper means nothing.

Exactly. If you apply to a place that is entry level and you have a 4 year degree. They are gonna wonder why you are not using the degree and wonder if something is wrong with you. 💀

Here’s a crazy idea. If you think you’re going to be overqualified for a job, just don’t tell them you have a degree. Boom, problem solved.

Yea the only thing that’s fundamentally changed in our society is the intelligence of people. We have more access to information now than ever and there’s more people than ever that think the earth is flat and the sun is fake. Now do we see why the government hides information from us?
