You’ve never been to Northern California. We have bait shops with live bait. San Francisco Pier 39 you can buy live bait.

Oceanside bait they will bring the bait to shore for you

There’s a few spots where you can purchase live bait without being on a boat in California.

It went out of business in the early 2010s I believe. I recall visiting some shops that did carry live bait, in the LA area.

It’s also cuz not a lot of shore anglers use live bait and if they were too it be sand crabs mussels ghost shrimp or clams which are pretty easy to find
