@thebreastchapter: Walking into this appointment, I had a lot of questions… and walking out, I finally feel informed, empowered, and at peace with my next steps 🩷 This was just a small glimpse into a very long, detailed conversation with my breast surgical oncologist. We discussed everything… a double mastectomy (skin-sparing), tissue expanders, nipple removal, and lymph node removal…and what each step means for my body and my future. There’s so much that goes into these decisions… and I’m sure there are still things I’ll continue learning along the way. But what matters most is that I feel confident moving forward with what’s best for me. I want to gently say this because it matters: ✨ Every breast cancer journey is different ✨ Every body is different ✨ Every decision is deeply personal Just because someone’s path doesn’t look like yours doesn’t make it wrong. We’re all doing the best we can with the information, support, and circumstances we have. If you’re in this stage right now, I hope this reminds you to ask questions, take your time, and choose what feels right for YOU 💕 #breastcancer #cancertok #breastcancerawarness

I am starting this journey now. I get my chest port in on Monday, chemo starts the 15th, in between I have to see an orthopedic oncologist bc the pet scan showed some findings in my hips. I was diagnosed im 48 (39 days ago) with HER2-3+ aggressive IDC. Mine has spread to my nodes. I am wishing you a healthy recovery. Lots of positive healing vibes!!!!

Hey! I actually had a lumpectomy before starting chemo.. I know a little backwards than usual, but I still want to do the dmx. What made you a candidate for doing both?

I HIGHLY recommend asking for a referral to a breast PT for after surgery. They can help with so many things-including lymphatic massage and lymphedema education. Although you can’t prevent, you can be quick in noticing signs! I had a partial mastectomy in January, went to 6 weeks of weekly Breast PT before radiation and now am back after recovering from that.

Glad you removed the nipples. My aunty did the same thing. She later had them tattooed on. It’s no biggy and worth it for that 3% chance. Hoping for your fight to be over soon and for you to live your life ❤️

I am a Burmese girl, first of all let me tell you my love, impermanence, take it easy and enjoy things, don't think about the past, don't be afraid of what will happen tomorrow, focus only on the day and time that is going by, if you wake up still breathing, make this day my best and most precious day, don't think about anything and be happy.💪🙏🤍

Had my DMX on 05.09.2017 - the one thing I wish I knew ahead of time was how different I would look after. I also recommend over the pectoral implants - I was my surgeon’s first case that he took this approach. Also, setbacks happen - it’s okay to be disappointed!
