So logically, Indian American women should be at the top of the casting list for Raven, no? Because functionally, she is basically Indian, otherwise you would get a Raven that either a) ignores her clear roots in Indian culture and aesthetics, or b) engages heavily in cultural appropriation with a non Indian actress, unless, they c) make Azarath itself heavily inspired by Indian culture/aesthetics (and include many Indian/ south Asian actors) to compensate for a non-Indian Raven. And we can easily blend Perez and Wolfman’s Raven with animated Goth!Raven from Teen Titans. IndianGoth Raven would go HARD and be a complete synthesis of everything that makes Raven who she is. The way I see it. They’ve spoken on the fact she has no earthly citizenship multiple times so no shes not American. They spoke on the fact shes not human at all but a fully conceptual/spiritual entity so shes not white or indian. So her being indian coded should translate to being what she identifies as in a human sense if people ask. As its shown multiple times other humans perceive her as an indian woman(terra and jaslyn). At the very least she could say wasian since her mother is white and if she was indian it would come from her father’s side anyways as hes the negative energy of azarath the indian coded civilization.
