I know Voyager 1 and 2 are inanimate objects, but something about them floating out there in space, all alone, and possibly never coming into contact with anyone or anything ever again…it seems so sad to me.

Why don’t they send out a third, and only turn on the instruments once they reach parts where 1 and 2 had to turn theirs off? Like, pick up where the last left off, essentially. I imagine they’d be able to get further and further. They could even send a few at once, and save turning the others on fully until one gives out
