I think that whole experience reaffirmed in Emma that Charlie is a safe choice bc he "forgave" her and her sins and she doesn't know if someone else out there would. so even though he basically ruins their wedding day and cheated on her, she goes back to him. to me it seemed as if she internalised that they're now on some level even.
