DAY 3 OF SEWING THROUGH MY NEARLY 20-YEAR-OLD FABRIC STASH! ✂️🧵💗 This time, I decided to make something I actually needed. I had this little piece of black pleather that was still in the original packaging—with the price and everything—from 2018. 😂 I also had some light pink denim that I honestly don’t even remember when or where I got. I’ve probably had that fabric since the early 2000s! So instead of letting both pieces continue sitting in my stash, I decided to turn them into something useful: a waist apron for braiding hair at the salon. 💇🏽‍♀️✂️ When I’m working at Blessings Salon & Spa, I wanted something that would keep the tools I use constantly right there with me instead of having to reach across my station or stop what I’m doing to grab something. Combs. Clips. Rubber bands. Spray bottles. Products. My phone when I need it. Whatever I need next—RIGHT THERE. 🙌🏽 I couldn’t find the one I already had, so naturally my solution was: “I’ll just make one.” 😂 I even sketched out a VERY rough version on my iPad first. I used to sketch everything on paper, but I can never keep up with all the notebooks, so now I just pull out my iPad and try to get the idea out of my head before I start cutting. And as usual… the sketch is NOT a pattern. 😂 It’s just enough for me to understand where I’m going. I wanted this one to have almost a pleated leather-skirt-with-pockets kind of feel, so I played around with the shape and incorporated my favorite color, PINK, because obviously. 💗😂 It’s not finished yet, but I actually started using it in the salon—and it WORKS! You can see me moving around the chair and still having everything I need right at my waist. I even had TWO spray bottles on me at one point. 😂 There are still a few things I want to add to make it more functional and bring it closer to the vision in my head. I already have ideas for making another version or two differently, too. But this is another example of what happens when I stop overthinking and just GET THE IDEA OUT. It has imperfections. It isn’t finished. It isn’t exactly what I originally pictured. But it’s cute, useful, functional, and made by ME. And honestly, that’s a win. 💗✨ And I love that this project represents BOTH sides of what I’m doing right now: 🧵 Designing + sewing custom pieces and accessories 💇🏽‍♀️ Braiding + creating alternative and creative hairstyles So whether you need a custom outfit, a unique accessory, or you’re looking for somebody to bring your hair vision to life… I’m creating it all. ✨ 📲 Book your next braid appointment through Booksy 🧵 DM me about custom clothing, accessories, or sewing classes And stay tuned for Part 2… because I’m not done with this apron yet. 👀💗 #AnahsBraidsNBeauty #SewingDesigner #FashionDesigner #CustomClothing #CustomAccessories
