Rubber is much more likely to leak down the road, wax seals last much longer, aside from that well done

You can use an inside cutter and a male toilet flange to get it flush with the floor

Every toilet I’ve pulled that had one of those has leaked and rotted the floor below. Wax rings will always be better

You should've been able to cut the pvc down more ( the straight pipe) flush to your floor then glue your toliet mount inside the pvc. Hand saw it tho no power tools.. Then cement glue it back.
