Yoo, i have a question for you since you seem to know a good amount about 2-strokes. I have a 1994 Husqvarna CR250 that I had to replace the original TMX38 carb with a VM38 carb. The new carb got a 40 pilot jet and a 280 main jet. The bike is hard to start without helping it with brake cleaner. Once it starts it can’t really hold idle well as it dies unless you constantly give it revs. However when going full throttle it seems to run lean, sounds like it can’t climb above a certain RPM. The spark plug seems to be black all the time? So it runs too rich on idle and to lean on throttle. I’ve read that a 40 pilot jet is enough and it’s the needle and air screw that needs adjusting. The main jet is too small, but which size should I go up to? Heard it’s around 380-400 on most 250cc 2-strokes?

Hey, is there any difference between ring gaps on forged or cast pistons? If so, what do I do? Cause I have a forged piston it’s 54 mm and I’m not sure what I should set the ring gap two because there’s no information that I can find anywhere on what I should set my ring gap to for my 2001 cr 125

I always lightly peen the case with a air hammer after welding the nut on. Helps break up any corrosion before trying to remove the stud

Where do you get your engine studs from, my xr200rs exhaust studs kinda js dipped and my exhaust fell off while riding. Haven’t looked anywhere but I wanna get some that’ll work and last long

I sharpen a drill bit in reverse. so it drills in reverse. it works for me. try it sometime. as you drill the studd heats up and the drill running in reverse loosens the stud. just dont brake the drill off. slow and steady is the key.

Place a washer below the nut, then weld. Protects the aluminum so I’m told. Disclaimer: never done it.

I heard a stud welder and some nuts should work if you put the new stud on top of the old one

never easy out, weld nut, work it back and forth slowly, it may take one try may take five, but it will come out, sadly I have to do this at least once a week.
