It’s okay to travel with both passports but you have to show both so that they can see the exit stamp from where you come from then you wouldn’t have had any issues. It just makes things easier to show them both passports. Right now on the passport you gave them sure you don’t require a visa yes but it’s not reflecting where you come from. And I think that’s why the official was asking if the other passport. It works like that everywhere if you have dual passports.

No, los ciudadanos de Jamaica no necesitan visa para viajar a la República Dominicana por turismo, siempre que la estancia sea corta, hasta 30 días. Solo se requiere un pasaporte válido, un formulario de llegada electrónico y el pago de la tasa turística. Si el motivo es otro, como negocios o una estadía larga, entonces sí se requiere visa.
