@ezbruhhspinz: Let’s chat about ambulatory wheelchair users. I try to not get triggered by some of the comments because people just don’t get it. But iykyk ♿️💛✨ #ambulatorywheelchairuser #wheelchair #EduTok #MomsofTikTok #disability
I use a wheelchair for when I have to walk far or stand for a long time, but other than that I don't use my wheelchair but I definitely need it. I once saw a doctor who said "you don't need your wheelchair" and I told her "if you felt what I felt for one month you wouldn't last one week alive" I have Fibromyalgia, four bulge disks, arthritis in my spine hips and neck, spinal stenosis, ridiculopathy eds and damage disks.

When my 6 year old daughter asks about why people need wheelchairs I say “because they need help getting around. They may not be able to walk for long periods, they may struggle to walk or they may not be able to walk at all.”! Thank you for sharing your families story xx

I had a classmate in my first grade class all the way back in 1986 who had spina bifida. Some days she used a wheelchair some days it was crutches. She loved to show us how fast she could get across the playground in her chair 😁 Your little guy is gonna go far no matter how he does it!

Wheelchairs mean freedom for the user. I see it with so many of the pupils at my school I work at. One got an electric wheelchair and that kiddo is the happiest ever since.

As an ambulatory wheelchair user with Spina Bifida. This is so true. I’m 19 almost 20 when people see me in public without my chair they don’t think it’s me.

Heyo! I’m an ambulatory wheelchair too! I can walk but it’s slow and often painful and sometimes it just makes me really tired. My wheelchair and other walking aids help me just live like everyone else. Before I got a wheelchair I was always at the back of the pack. Too tired and in too much pain to engage with my friends on days out. And eventually I stopped going out all together. You can ask my friends they will all tell you the life came back into my eyes when I started using a wheelchair. Wheelchairs are not sad! And they don’t mean the user is completely unable to walk!

For my mom the goal with me was to walk but now that I’m 26 the goal is a wheelchair because I can’t physically do as much as I want too. Walking is so much work and people don’t think about that when they don’t have to work at it EVERY DAY.

I used to walk with crutches (a walker before that) then switched to a wheelchair in high school because it was a bigger building. At first I just used it at school, but then I found I really liked it and have used it ever since! Everyone’s journey is different and everyone should be able to use what’s best for them without stigma or judgement.

I can walk, but as my arthritis keeps getting worse over the years, I've started using the scooter carts at the grocery store because my knees give out after that amount of time. Same idea. People really just need to think more.
