well if your fascia is capped in aluminum, it essentially acts as a flashing because it's tucked under the drip edge. now to what you're showing here, you're using drip edge instead of gutter apron. drip edge is for the gables.😁

not an issue if the soffit and fascia are done correctly with the drip edge.... pulling them out just creates an area for the wind to hook and damage the roof.... can't do that on the east coast of Canada

That metal is not "drip edge",, it's, "rake edge". That rake edge is in the wrong location. Proper "drip edge" is not 90 degrees,, its 120 dregees to fit the slope of the roof deck. Not many roofers know the difference and it is the roofers responsability to onstall it,, not the sider!!
