you're contextualizing this through the lens of 2010 YouTube. Mr Beast isn't a personality YouTuber, he's a spectacle YouTuber. he's the host of a show. and maybe people like him, the same way you like the host of let's make a deal. But he's not the reason you watch. He very purposefully set up this wall between him and his audience. Because he knows he's not a personality YouTuber.

Swearing is bad :
As someone who watched mr beast years ago back when he had like 15k subscribers or something he was doing worst intros and he had a genuine personality but as time has gone on he’s lost that personality more and more and by 2022 it was just all gone and that’s when I tuned out but I was definitely watching less and less over the years

In the video you’re talking about, Dan Olson said that Jimmy asked the group of creators, “how do you create fandom?” Unfortunately for Mr. Beast and his team, the answer to that is to stop caring about pure metrics above all else, and start actively trying to create a community around content that people care about deeply. So basically, change his entire business model and probably lose a good amount of money short term in exchange for longterm stability. The issue with virality as a business strategy is that it’s not sustainable long term, and Mr Beast is clearly starting to realize this

I would rephrase it as no fandom. You need a community that can fuel itself without you. Dan and Phil were on hiatus (Dan completely and Phil as a part of the duo), and their fans sustained itself until their return. If Mr. Beast stopped posted, he’s done.
