His whole argument is "that doesnt fit this oddly specific standards ive set so im not gonna talk about it" and "if something good comes from it or if theres a reward then everything else is fine" essentially. A good ending doesn't cancel out all the bad things.

An author doesn’t write a story for the well-being of its characters. It’s written for entertainment for the audience. You can definitely write a story with zero suffering where nothing bad ever happens to anyone and the characters don’t need to learn any lessons because they already know them. It would be pretty boring, but if that’s what’s holding God back then he doesn’t have our best interests at heart.

I see a lot of people that may be speaking about suffering from a very privileged position. it's easy to say things like without suffering we cannot know joy or any variation of that when the point is there has been countless creatures which have EXCLUSIVELY known suffering. furthermore there are people that have experienced such levels of suffering that they definitely would have wished to have never existed. Most of us (me included) simply do not know the level of suffering that is possible and that has already happened to many individuals and creatures.

I'm just stuck on, if god is all-powerful, all-loving/merciful and omnibenevolent he could make a world where suffering is non-existent but we can still do whatever we want through free will and experience the same appreciation/gratitude/joy for everything we do now without needing the insight of suffering to create appreciation for all things good (which would be everything). Either 1. free will is attached to suffering and if god can't change that he isn't all-powerful/knowing, 2. he can change it but consciously doesn't meaning he isn't all-merciful/loving or 3. It's necessary to achieve his plan, but that points to his plan being greater than him and I'm pretty sure people are steadfast on there being nothing greater than god
