@marisadventuresinjapan: Did you know there’s a real-life "Totoro House" hidden just outside Tokyo? 🥰 If you’re a Ghibli fan, Kurosuke’s House (クロスケの家) is a must-visit spot that feels like walking straight into the 1950s countryside. This isn’t just a museum; it’s the headquarters for the Totoro No Furusato (Totoro’s Forest) Foundation. The house itself is a beautifully restored traditional Japanese farmhouse (kominka) complete with a giant Totoro sitting inside to greet you!  The foundation works tirelessly to preserve the Sayama Hills, the very landscape that inspired Hayao Miyazaki to create My Neighbor Totoro. They protect the local "Sato-yama" (woodlands) from urban development so future generations can still see where Totoro might live.  It’s located in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, right on the border between Tokyo and Saitama. It takes about 1 hour to reach from central Tokyo (Shinjuku or Ikebukuro). 👉 How to visit & Book • Days: Usually open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.  • Booking: Currently, you must book an appointment in advance via their official website. • Cost: Entry is free, but they highly encourage a donation (around ¥500) to help save the forest!
