MOMS, if you were in a sorority in college and now your daughter is getting ready to rush, there are a few things you NEED to know! 👠 While you might remember your own recruitment experience like it was yesterday, the process at many schools looks VERY different today. Here are 3 changes worth knowing about! 1️⃣ Social media is now part of the picture. When you went through recruitment, Instagram and TikTok didn't exist! Today, social media can be another way members learn about PNMs before meeting them. Your daughter's online presence may help introduce her personality, interests, and activities, so it's worth thinking about well before recruitment starts. 2️⃣ The preparation process begins MUCH earlier. At some schools, girls are working on their social resumes, making connections, researching chapters, and learning about recruitment during their junior or senior year of high school. Waiting until the summer before freshman year can leave you scrambling, particularly at schools with early deadlines and competitive recruitments. 3️⃣ The paperwork and requirements may be different from what you remember. Legacy policies have changed. Recommendation policies have changed. Most schools request introduction videos and/or short answers questions and additional materials, and registration timelines vary. What was expected when YOU rushed might not be what your daughter's school requires today! And here's something I really want moms to understand... Even if you were in a sorority, don't assume you already know exactly how recruitment works at your daughter's college. Every campus is different, and the process continues to evolve! Your experience can absolutely be helpful, but make sure you're also learning the CURRENT expectations, too.
