Investigate Skyworth and Sinotech. For the warranty to be valid they require you to keep the original box and send the TV for warranty claim.in the original box. People who dont have the space to store large tv boxes wont be able to claim the warranty.

Keeping a box has to be the most ridiculous expectation ever.

Hi Wendy, please could you investigate how warranties work on beds. I purchased a bed last year and it had sunk in. The store advised if there are any marks on the bed, then it will not be replaced.

Hi Wendy 🌸 I would really appreciate your advice. I bought a new Chery Tiggo Cross HEV in August 2025 and it has completely died on me 4 times already — even after the 12V battery was replaced. The dealership still cannot find the root cause and the vehicle has needed roadside assistance and flatbed towing multiple times.
Ironically, my sister-in-law bought the exact same car a month after me and has had zero issues.
I previously also had another Chery with a battery-related issue just outside warranty. I feel like I’m losing confidence in the vehicle and I’m worried about future defects once the warranty expires.
What are my rights under the CPA at this stage, and would you push for a replacement vehicle?

Most auto batteries carry a two year replacement guarantee. Now trust me, within a week after the guarantee has expired, that battery will cease to work 🤣

Heaven forbid anyone but the manufacturer get enriched!
Anyway, I understand that logic. I think the language is misleading, though I can't be sure if it's our language (in consumer discussions) or the warranty language that misleads. If an object has a 5-year warranty and it is replaced within that period, the customer assumes its a like-for-like replacement. "Surely if the first one was built to last 5 years, so will the replacement?" and so it makes no sense why the warranty would be tied to the previous object or when it failed. But what it actually is, is a sort of fixed term contract that you share with the manufacturer ("We will ensure that you have access to the use of this product for the next 5 years." sort of thing).;

One should think about a warranty as a "separate purchase" from the geyser. For R8 000, (1) Youre buying the geyser and (2) youre buying the *right* to have it replaced within 5 years should it become faulty. Therefore, the replacement geyser will have a 2 year warranty, because the *remaining duration of the right* is 2 years.

I always opt for a refund and not a replacement. With the refund I purchase a "new" product with a "new/fresh" warranty.

Why do one need an invoice for a motor vehicle battery because the battery has a date stamp for argument sake you live in kzn and on holiday in Cape Town and the invoice is in kzn how should you get a replacement with “WILLARD”

We moved in on year 5 of our gersers warranty!! We asked the governing body to change or replace they refused as it needed its own slot and it was using twice as much electricity as it should fast forward 5yrs later the Trustees charged us for replacement and justified it as Unit based not complex

The puzzling question is when does the CPA apply??? We know now when it does not apply thanks to Els v Venter and Another SCA judgment… but when is something “in the ordinary course of business”? two transactions, three transactions, four transactions 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Please can you comment on how a bed (mattress) warranty works,my bed has a 20 year warranty and when I claimed after 5 years they asked me to pay in far more than the initial cost even though they agreed that the mattress had collapsed.

The problem comes in when the supplier is a shark. So our geyser burst. Company kept on saying they've logged a ticket and we call the next day and they say the same thing. Checked hello Peter and this geyser company was ALL over the place. Nedbank finally came to the party and we got a new geyser 6 weeks later. Was a nightmare.
