@plaintalkhealth: The hospital gives you a patient advocate — but that advocate works for the hospital, not for you. Here's what most patients never find out: there are free, independent advocates who have no ties to the hospital system and answer only to you. A nurse breaks down exactly where to find them, including your state's free ombudsman program, the Patient Advocate Foundation (1-800-532-5274), and free advocacy options available through Medicare and Medicaid. Save this before you need it — and share it with anyone navigating a hospital #womenshealth #medicalgaslighting #believewomen #womenshealthmatters #patientrights

I once was in the mental health wing of a hospital in Baltimore and the nurses were hiding their badges from me and they wouldn’t tell me their names and I couldn’t get anybody on the report line and I felt unsafe enough with all the security and nurses hiding their names all over me asking for a towel that I called 911 and the security guard hung the phone up while I was on it. I wasn’t aggressive in anyway.

I have chronic pancreatitis Seriously painful. I was just denied pain meds from my Primary Care NP. She told me to go to ER for pain meds. The ER is not going to take responsibility for my pain management on a daily basis. I recently detoxed from alcohol. I used it to manage pain. I don't ever want to go back to that. I have no where to go now. Help! Thanks

Am in the hospital as we speak- I have had a horrible experience so far- I so mad - miscommunication- no communication- conflicting instructions….. do nurse assistant s really do anything anymore- even the physicians don’t know what one another is doing! 3 days in & I observe the nurses busting ass - except those on the power trips- the assistants do nothing but vitals for the most part!!!! My background is as a nurse- albeit I’m 72 retired !!!! Help me to know how to evoke change!!!!

I totally have PTSD from “hospital patient advocates”. And I’m literally the easiest person to communicate with bc I’m a veterinarian and was horrified at the human care. (When a patient can’t go home they have to go to skilled nursing… not dropped off on their lawn. 😳)

That’s why I never asked for one. I don’t trust people easily in general so I’m definitely not trusting someone who is paid for by the same people I’m trying to fight to get help

since my children were in elementary they have been in and out of hospitals. Doctors didn't believe me or my children on how they felt or what was going on with them. 10 years of screaming at specialist and Doctors. Lead us going out of state for medical help and finally getting a diagnosis for both my children. Which caused my health to decline because of the chronic daily stress of 10 years. Years later trying to get help for myself during perimenopause another bs of Doctors. 2 years of stress and arguments I finally waa heard and given HRT.
