Its not a tree stump its made of volcanic rock. is was a volcano .Magma: Millions of years ago, hot molten rock pushed up from deep inside the earth. .Cooling: The magma stopped moving and slowly cooled off into hard rock underground. It formed long, straight, six-sided columns. Erosion: Over a long time, wind and water wore away the softer dirt and rock around it. That left the hard tower standing tall all by itself.
