“Where are you from?” Sheikh Zayed recalls a question travellers from the Emirates used to hear when they arrived in England. In those days, they had to explain where their homeland was. As he speaks of how much had changed, he turns to the men around him. In their faces, we glimpse the story of a nation the world had come to know. Twenty-two years after his passing, we hear that question again and understand the pride in the answer today. “I’m from the Emirates.” May God have mercy on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and reward him for the nation he helped unite and the generations proud to call it home.
