Charlotte Bronte was by far the least talented of the three. Anne was the most talented, Emily wrote by far the most impactful work, & Charlotte was there too. this is the hill I will die on. I should write an essay on that - I will start by reading your substack

You are again spot on for me specifically. I started journaling about 10 days ago. And I love it. I spent so much of my academic career writing emails (I was chairman of the music department over 13 campuses in the State of Wisconsin—much of my time was mediating disputes, and putting out various fires) that I had forgotten how pleasurable writing down my thoughts is! I have even taken to writing from my perspective as well as that of my dog. “My name is Caramel, and I am a little dog.” Of course still writing about me, but putting my thinking “into” the mind of my dog and what she might think about her day. I also would like to tell you, I received my Norton Critical Edition of Frankenstein yesterday. I decided to begin at the end and work backwards through the book finishing with the text of the novel since I have already read the novel. I am looking forward to some stimulating reading and writing!!!!
