We constantly are fighting quack grass. Disc make it worse cause cuts roots up and then it grows twice has many. You got right idea cultivate lightly. Spring tine harrows seem to replant it though I have up on them where a 5-7 bar drag harrow lays it out in sun and roots will dry out and kill it. You have to do it twice week though so slow process. Tried roundup but then lost yield on potatoes. Think it was bidding up the calcium. We get better yield fighting quack grass and no roundup. So I’ve decided if I got quack grass probelm means I got healthy soils. It likes nitrogen. If I don’t have quack grass usually potato yield is less. It also has good root for compaction so I’ve learned to live with it.

How’s one pick what they want to plant? Like why peas? Especially if they didn’t do great last round.

We’ve done lots of levelling nasty stuff with the morris magnum chisel spoons front sweeps back two rows set harrows to spread and not drag go shallow like 1” deep and 10+ mph does a finish like a protill without the compaction or powder to make it blow

Out of curiosity, is there a planting tractor you love to upgrade too? That old case is bad ass, we have a few, we went from a 2wd 2290 to a 8930, to a newer 275 and now a 380 case. Times really have changed!
