Giving water first doesn't apply in all cases. It's not standard practice or rule cast on stone. In most cases, it's advisable to start with water if the chicks have travelled a long distance and are dehydrated. I give mine food and introduce water momentarily

l always give my broiler chicks water and feed immediately they arrive to prevent this problem.l have been doing this for more than 10 years now.It works perfectly
