Castello di Monterone is a beautifully restored medieval castle just outside Perugia, perched on a hillside overlooking the Umbrian countryside. Dating back to at least the 13th century, it once served as a strategic lookout along the historic road between Perugia and Assisi, and local tradition links it to the nearby Knights Templar settlement at San Bevignate.
