@sky_dogsanctuary: My favorite thing in the world is spending time with and getting to know new horses so I went to see Meadow to see what I could find out about her. And she’s gentle ❤️💜 What a total thrill this was to be able to touch her and that she took cookies. Somewhere until fairly recently I do believe Meadow was a well taken care of and much loved horse. Which makes me happy and sad at the same time. Did her owner pass away, leave for college, financially not be able to care for her any longer ? We most likely will never know. But it’s a great comfort to feel she hasn’t lived a long life of abuse and I did bail her so fast they didn’t even post about her, so she was in and out quickly. So many of the horses who come to us have been through years of abuse and are broken and their lights dimmed but this lovely Queen Meadow thank goodness did not have to pay too high a price to get here. And she can bring that strength to others in her herd who need it and crave it. In the wild, horses need hierarchy within a band and Meadow would have been a fierce lead mare on the range. And here she gets to step into that role which truly is her destiny and birthright ❤️ That first touch I was honored to be granted was the first connection to Skydog and the energy she will be met with daily. Respect, kindness, understanding and compassion. Those are the values I hold dear and maintain for our sanctuary in everything we do. Here at our ranch and out in the world too. We are now the biggest voice for wild horses in America and we are using it daily to communicate with the BLM to demand they implement better safeguards for our horses. But here at the ranch our voices are soft for good reason and Meadow it was so good to meet you at the end of a long and busy day. Her feet already were trimmed as she was tripping over them and she took that in her stride also. She’s here to stay, for good, for the rest of her days. Meadow is home and all is right in her world.
