I don’t think he fully thought his argument through. The comparison between God and fathers isn’t really comparable: we understand biology and that a father is required for biological existence. Religion, on the other hand, is based on ancient stories without hard evidence. So his takedown of Ricky Gervais’s take doesn’t really hold up.
