Got a MS271 that seems to run great but doesn’t have enough power to cut well. I put a 20” bar in it because I need a little bit bigger saw but it doesn’t cut any better with the original 18” bar. Seems to have great compression. Mixture seems decent. What am I missing?

35$ for bearings and seals plus 2 hours labor or 1k for a new saw. It’s well worth fixing.

i know its not the right way but could you have cleaned it up really good and used some epoxy to reseal the tank

Yes, steel discontinues parts for older models. I have a steel concrete saw that looks like New. Took it to two different people to look at it in the end. Said it needed a carburetor. Still discontinued it. It’s just another way of selling concrete saws for something that would have lasted you a lifetime. It’s the only bad thing I ever had to say about steel.
