It's definitely possible, I started with 1 small plant and almost a year later, I have 4 good sized plants and 3 leaves with pups growing! I have taken off a few more leaves to start some more :) I ensure the leaf is dried out well, maybe a week or so before I start misting very lightly every couple days with it touching the soil well but not covered. Once I see any sign of a root or pup starting I ignore it for a week or so again then mist and repeat. It's much slower than new leaves on the plant. I am going to try your way of propagating and see how it compares!
