delivery drivers are 1099 contractors. the companies don't have to pay them a livable wage. unfortunately the people ordering from these companies have to bid for the service of having their food delivered. because the drivers can accept or decline the bid or contract.

It's the shift to tipping BEFORE services are done that really annoys me. That's a bribe. I don't really have a great idea for an alternative but bidding for people to pick up your order is *not tipping*.

tipping is based on service provided. employers should pay their employees and tips should be extra, and kept by ther server.

Someone tell doordash and spark to get on board then. I firmly believe those platforms need to have gratuities added. Atleast in certain areas known to have no or miniscule tips.
