The VNCH yellow flag represents a disgraceful and corrupt junta regime. From 1965 to 1975, South Vietnam had no real economy—not even an emerging one; it was entirely war-driven and aid-dependent. The U.S. dropped between 7.5 and 8 million tons of bombs on Vietnam, which is roughly three times the total amount dropped during the entirety of World War II. Most Vietnamese lived through that turbulent decade under a U.S.-backed junta. Barbed wire lined the streets, military jeeps roamed everywhere, and conscription created constant fear as young men were snatched from their homes or off the streets. Between 1965 and 1975, the bar scene exploded, with drugs and prostitution flourishing to serve G.I.s and military elites. During this period, Saigon became the largest heroin market in Southeast Asia. I don’t see how anyone can be proud of a junta regime
