You are absolutely 💯 correct. My Grandfather and his brother made there age older so they could serve. My grandfather was a prisoner of war in Changi. Lucky to come back.

I was very disappointed in what I saw of the news coverage of this. they took quotes of people at the services but they packaged them out of content so it was too vague to know if the coverage was condemning or condoning the acts.

I will never understand what people find so offensive about welcome to country ceremonies and speeches. I find it beautiful that after Colonisation and the two centuries of systemic discrimination that any elders are willing to perform them, particularly when faced with the hatred like yesterday. To me it feels like reaching a hand out to bring us together.

It’s honestly disgraceful to see people boo a Welcome to Country at events like Anzac Day. A day that’s meant to be about respect, reflection, and unity shouldn’t be used as a platform to show disrespect to the oldest continuous culture on earth. A Welcome to Country isn’t political—it’s about acknowledging history and showing basic courtesy. We can honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans while also recognising the traditional custodians of the land. Those things aren’t in conflict.

there are times and places to protest (before or after) the 'homage' to the last diggers who died for reasons that they understood. there are no circumstances under which booing - on that day - in that place- could ever be construed as anything but disrespectful
