Globalization has benefited capital and power, leading to market monopolies. Wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, creating billionaires and a new era of slavery. Without a foundation of morality and compassion, both capital and bureaucratic monopolies are disastrous. A conscientious government would strive to minimize the wealth gap and prevent the lowest income earners from falling into hardship. It would ensure that the elderly are cared for and the young are supported. However, government policies often go against this principle.
