Hello! I had a partner before—he was my first love. We broke up due to long distance, and eventually, we both moved forward with our lives. He found a new partner, and I did too.
At first, I thought I had already moved on, but I realized that I actually hadn’t. My second partner used to be my best friend, so you could say we went from “friends to lovers.” However, we broke up this April because I kept ghosting her and became avoidant. Honestly, I was never like that before. When I love someone, I truly give my all. I think the reason I entered that relationship was because I didn’t want to lose our friendship. I did have a crush on her before, but it was more of a “happy crush.” Deep down, I wasn’t ready for a relationship since I hadn’t fully moved on from my first love. I did try to communicate with her, but I guess I still wasn’t ready. Maybe I just wasn’t fully healed or able to move on yet.Another reason I became avoidant was because of the bad memories that kept coming back whenever I talked to her. The things she said about me behind my back kept replaying in my mind, and it made it hard for me to open up or feel comfortable. So no, I wasn’t being avoidant on purpose. Sometimes, people become avoidant because of what they’ve been through.
