mmm her parenting kind of sucks not becuase of favoritism but because they drop the ball with the sister, what do you mean you are well off and your sister is struggles and you are complaining she might get more inheretance??? yeah couldnt be me, unless is shown the sister has gotten help ans still isnt doing and effort is one thing but if she works everyday she is trying

Its like being punished for making good decisions and being successful. I would do 60/40

Both are your kids regardless. Split it 50/50.

To a degree yes. It’s not the money for her likely as much as she’s feeling shut out. Should she be punished for doing well? I do get though why mom wants to help Emma more, but I’m sure this stings for the other daughter.

the one with everything may not have everything forever- sh*t happens - the one with nothing might not have nothing forever- good things happen... Should still be 50/50

Inheretince money ain’t your money. Why do people always fight over something that is not yours. If you do inherit something it is a gift not something they owe you

When my mom died, me and my 3 siblings gave 1 sibling everything. He needed help. We did not. It’s what mom would have wanted, but never would have done. Now we are ALL fine, not just 4 of the 5 of us. Mom wanted us ALL to be ok.

Well, you shouldn’t penalize someone for being successful. Split down the middle.

Although if I was in that situation and I was doing incredibly better than my siblings, I wouldn’t have a problem with it however, nobody can first see the future Sam could get laid off. Her husband could pass, a variety of other things that might put her in a situation where she needs that. Talk to Sam explain why you’re doing what you’re doing and maybe give each girl 40% and put the rest in a trust to be distributed at a later date.

I have 2 sisters. I would not be upset with this situation. I would want my parents to help my struggling siblings.

As a mother, I understand her logic. As an older sister and well off, I’d tell my mom to help my sister more.

YTA. Not because one of your daughters is doing better, doesn’t mean they deserve less help. I’d be upset too.

Unfortunately I have to side with the parent on this one. One sibling has several houses while the other has nothing. As a parent I understand wanting to make sure your kids are okay when you pass. I don't think this particular case is favouritism. One kid seems to be more than thriving while the other is barely surviving. One kid has several houses and is living a life the other will never have even if everything was left to her. The parent is just trying to give the kid that's failing to thrive a chance. Logically it's the best option OP has to make sure both her kids will be fine when she is gone. If I owned several houses and was thriving while my other sibling struggled I would give them a house. That's my family if I'm doing okay i want them to be okay as well. What is money and a house worth vs my family members well being?
