the unwritten rule is that if the game is an absolute blowout, dont swing 3-0. EVERY example you used was just not a blowout 😭😭 the only one i could MAYBE see is the oakland one 2-7 in the 4th but even still, that can easily become an A’s win 🥀

I still remember how disappointed my high school coach was when I swung on a 0-3 count. Not only did he call the play in but I wanted greed. What I got back in return was a lifetime of emotional regret.

if you swing 3-0, your average may go up, but your on base percentage is goina go down. Higher chance of walking, than getting a hit in that count. Good for the individual to potentially hit a bomb, but bad for the team to risk a baserunner.

It’s not an unwritten rule. The logic is don’t swing with a 3-0 count because you want the pitcher to earn that strike. More often than not if you swing with this count you end up bailing the pitcher out instead of walking to first base
