I say this as a Makoto glazer but I really do like Hajime, this protag that has to balance the playing field of being the physical embodiment of despair, whilst also being someone who has to see hope and good within himself, and the one person he had, pushed him to be the best version of himself, even without a talent, he was himself, he was the Ultimate Hajime, and Chiaki would be proud of him for that, even whilst she’s in the afterlife. I think that detail really remains in my head when I think about the dynamic of all the protagonists, they were fighting for others, but Hajime was trying to find his way out of a lively gamble he didn’t really have any cards in. The one person he trusted, and cares for and looked up to didn’t want Hajime to be anyone but the best person he could.
