@shirayukiirobirds: How to tame your bird from scratch - part 4 We’re moving onto the successful first attempt at stepping up onto your finger. Always gauge your bird’s response to see when you should end the training session. If they’re still actively reaching towards you, you can continue. If they keep flying away, you have to try again another time. I made this series in the hope that you won’t be disappointed when you see so many people training their birds well and yet feel like you don’t have such luck. It really comes down to each individual character of the bird. Some unfortunately, are more fearful. JayDee here is quite timid so he’s a good example to show how it actually is like when trying to tame them (which means it’s not easy 🤣🤣) JayDee (JD) is a play on Jenday Conure, the species of this particular bird. I don’t know what his interactions with people were like where he came from, but he definitely wasn’t ok with people when he arrived here. This video was one of my first few interactions with JayDee and I will continue to share more on how we slowly navigate being accustomed to each other and living together. Note: this is a temporary cage because I didn’t have a cage for JD when I found him. Wasn’t expecting to find him and at this point still thought I could return him to his original owner hence used a random cage
