@rbmk1000dyatlov: In the context of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the RBMK-1000 reactor, an MTK (often referred to as a mnemonic display or core map) is a large visual monitoring panel used by operators to track the state of individual channels within the reactor core. It is not a digital screen in the modern sense but a massive electromechanical light box consisting of hundreds of small, backlit plastic covers, each representing a specific coordinate in the reactor. Key Functions and Features Core Mapping: The panel displays a 1:1 map of the reactor's 1,884 channels. Each square on the display corresponds to a specific fuel channel, control rod, or sensor location within the core. Coordinate-Based Monitoring: Operators use a "calling device" on their control desk (pult) to request data for a specific channel. When a coordinate is selected, the corresponding light on the MTK panel illuminates to show its status. Visual Indicators: The panel uses different colored light covers to signify the function or status of a channel: **White: Fuel channels. **Yellow: Fuel channels equipped with power density probes. Green: Control rod channels. Red: Indicators added after the accident to show the state of fast-acting emergency rods. Data Integration: The MTK panel is connected to the SKALA centralized control system, which processes signals from the reactor and routes them to the display. It can show various parameters such as water flow, gas temperature, steam content, and heat exchange. Evolution in Chernobyl Units The design of these panels evolved between the two generations of reactors at the Chernobyl plant: Generation 1 (Units 1 & 2): These units primarily used MTO panels (Mnemonic Display of Deviations) and typically had only one large MTK display. Generation 2 (Units 3 & 4): These units featured a "tilted" mnemonic display for better visibility and included two MTK displays (core maps) to provide more comprehensive data to the operators. During the accident in Unit 4, these panels would have lit up extensively as the SKALA system attempted to relay the critical deviations occurring across the entire core. #rbmk #fypシ゚viral #fyp #tiktok #nuclear
