Each one feels completely different, and honestly, you could spend days just exploring them. 📍Villa Carlotta Entry: €17.5 What’s special: A mix of art museum and botanical garden with some of the most impressive flower displays on the lake. Best time: Spring (April–May) for blooming gardens 📍 Villa Cipressi Entry: €13 What’s special: Terraced gardens right on the lake with the famous wisteria gate. Best time: April for wisteria bloom, and early morning unless you love queues. 📍 Villa Monastero Entry: €13 gardens/€15 gardens + villa What’s special: A long lakeside botanical garden perfect for photo shotings, with constantly changing views along the path. Best time: Spring to early summer for flowers, and evenings for the best light and fewer crowds. Note (April 2026): Part of the gardens is currently closed for work 📍 Villa del Balbianello Entry: €15 gardens/25 gardens + villa What’s special: One of the most iconic villas on the lake, set on a peninsula and featured in movies like James Bond and Star Wars. Best time: Late afternoon or golden hour for the best light, especially in spring and early summer. 👉 Tip: Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero are right next to each other in Varenna, so you can easily visit both.
