I'm 70 now, and this is exactly how my mother made, and taught me how to make, red eye gravy. I usually have grits, eggs, and biscuits, and douse everything on the plate. 😂👍

I love red eye gravy but my mom would put the drippings in a bowl then add a little coffee to to bowl. That formed the eye then spoon it over pinched up biscuits. Everyone’s different but that looks delicious
