Mia is 1000% right. She is her MOTHER, building their relationship, fixing broken parts of their relationship, THAT IS HER JOB. Mia is a not only her child but A CHILD, it’s her job as a mother to try to mend and facilitate a relationship with her child, that is not on THE CHILD.
