I don't know what the correct answer is but I put over 400,000km on my 5.0 Coyote and never once prefilled the filter. I've never once heard of an engine failing from not prefilling the oil filter.

Dude even said it takes "2 seconds" for the engine to fill the filter... Even if he was 100% correct who would want their engine to run without oil at any point that you can easily prevent. 😆 That guy doesn't seem to understand engine oil flow to any degree nor the verified wear that has been found with Lake Speed Jr's testing. Rich-stay confrontational. 👍🏻😎

So if I do a service on a cat c18 and each filter (2) holds 3.7 quarts of oil, that’s almost 2 gallons of oil. I can just run those on dry and let the engine oil pump fill them, and not pre-fill them.

every single vehicle ive ever owned would rattle if i dint pre fill the filter. ive always done it except for my 3800 as it sits sideways. Will it blow up if it dont? probably not but why would I willingly put needed stress and wear on components if I dont have to.
