I wouldn’t call myself a watch fanatic. I don’t know every reference number, and I don’t treat my watches like museum pieces. I simply buy what I like, wear it, and somehow, over the years, each one becomes connected to a certain time in my life. My first Rolex was a Pepsi GMT-Master. I bought it when I was 21. At that age it felt very special to me. Today, my personal assistant wears it — and he loves it. I like that. After more than 30 years, it is still on someone’s wrist, still being used and enjoyed. Much better than sitting in my safe. Over the years came the Daytonas in yellow gold and rose gold. My gold GMT-Master with the green dial has been with me for almost 20 years. When you own something for that long, you stop thinking about when you bought it. It simply becomes part of your life. For Black Tie, I like to change completely. Something elegant and discreet on a leather strap — my Patek Philippe Cellini or Rolex Moonphase. For me, they belong with a tuxedo. The Cubitus has a different story because my husband and I wear it together. His is in steel, mine is the smaller version in white gold. I like having the same watch, but each in our own way. And then there is my favorite: the rose-gold Nautilus. I don’t really have a complicated explanation for it. It’s simply the one I love most and reach for again and again. The Vacheron Constantin is more relaxed. I can change it to the rubber strap, wear it for sport, travelling or by the pool, and not think too much about it. Maybe that is my relationship with watches in general. I wear them. I scratch them. I travel with them. I pass them on. They collect memories along the way. I appreciate beautiful watches, but I’m not a collector who wants everything untouched and perfect. For me, luxury is something to live with — not something to lock away. #patekphilippe #vasheronconstantin #rolex #thaicong #luxurylifestyle
