@madeleinewilsonphoto: Our national parks are being asked to do more with less. Again. 🥴 And they’re facing more budget cuts. Also again. 👎 📈 Visitation is up (323+ million visits in 2025) 📉 Funding and staffing are down (~25% of NPS staff lost since 2025 & 2027 budget cuts could slash ~25% of park operations funding with other cuts threatening even more) The people working to protect these places are stretched thin. So if you’ve been wondering how to help, this is a great starting point. 📆 Visit during off-peak seasons & hours 🗑️ Pick up after yourself 📍 Plan ahead & prepare 📜 Follow the rules 👋 Give rangers a smile & be kind 🐻 Leave wildlife alone 📚 Learn the history of the land you’re on & show up to ranger programs 💌 Say thank you to staff/write thank you notes 📞 Call your representatives & put pressure on them 💸 Support park organizations 💪Volunteer 📲 Follow your favorite parks online 🛍 Shop local in gateway communities 📢 Use your platform to spread accurate, responsible information ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: These slides all have text on them - too much to include in this caption. If you want to read this post, I have a blog post version of it that’s actually more in-depth available on my website. DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated with the NPS or any of the organizations mentioned. I have not received any compensation or incentive (monetary or otherwise) to post about this. Also be kind. Park employees are way overworked and understaffed, and many positions sit vacant. Don’t get upset with park staff over inconveniences. They are doing the best they can to serve you with very limited resources.

I’m going to ONP next month and want to get gifts for the rangers I come across. We gave cookies from a nearby cafe at Mount Rainier last year. Someone gave me the great idea to bring a bag and gloves to pick up litter. We must care an awful lot…🌲🥾💚

This is all amazing info! To some of us it may seem like common knowledge but it really isn’t! Many have yet to experience the parks and this is a great guide. Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
