NA beer has been around for a long time. I remember O'Doul's ads as a kid. In the state of Missouri at least. NA beer and alcohol removed wine is sold an screened as if it was alcoholic

I’m a big fan of non-alcoholic 0% gin and other mocktails because I am tired of apple juice and sprite at adult gatherings… I’m an adult… not a toddler… I want to have an adult drink, I just don’t want to have alcohol.

I drank near beer for a couple years and people notice you're drinking NA, but they don't feel judged because you're "participating" and seem less likely to bring it up. when I just abstained outright and drank water, I feel like I got read as judging people who do drink. it's so weird.

Beer enjoyer here, I decided to drink very little a few years ago, as in 1 or 2 times a month. Got put into NA beer recently. Now I can enjoy the vibes of drinking a beer without the alcohol - poison. Despite the hate I get for it, I’m glad I was put onto the NA beer train. Now I really don’t drink unless the point of the evening is to drink, lol

I've found that since I started drinking NA beer, it doesn't make me crave real alcohol. It made me realize how nice it is to avoid the bad parts of drinking: hangovers, dehydration, spending $$$ on Ubers, etc.

Ironically I get carded when I buy NA beer here in Oregon. That said, I definitely drink it instead of an alcoholic drink, and really like them.

I think it’s really great for people who want the vibe of having a drink but would prefer not to drink, or not to get as drunk. More advertising regulations might not be a bad thing, but overall, having more options that aren’t just alcohol or just pop is a good thing

I feel like those beverages are great for people like me who aren’t addicted to alcohol at all but have decided to stop consuming alcohol for health improvements. I feel amazing since stopping alcohol and I don’t have to fight my weight anymore. 10/10 highly recommend.

I am all for low and no alcohol options but as someone who works in the ad industry, the marketing science would say that alcoholic brands should have to follow the same rules as if the drink has alcohol (and I agree). Check out How Brands Grow for that marketing science!

After I stopped drinking alcohol, I waited about 2 years before I tried NA beer. I was concerned that it might take me back to alcohol, even though I never craved it after stopping. It was fine, and it gave me a savory option to have when out that wasn't water. It has its place but it really depends on the person.

NA beer (and full sugar sodas) for me was the “treat” that helped me pull back from a mild Alcohol Use Disorder. I think someone with more severe AUD might struggle more with the “but it’s not real beer…” effect.

I've never been someone who likes the taste of alcohol or coffee so I really get the frustration when people ask why. I'm in the UK and was once asked if I used to have an alcoholism problem if I didn't drink, I was in my early 20s and was like, no, I just don't like the taste. people are very weird about alcohol. I do sometimes have some alcohol free cider, but it tastes like a soft drink & nothing like the alcoholic version

Two months after my first rehab, "non"-alcoholic beers came out on the market. So I started drinking them because I missed the flavor of beer - and it was non-alcoholic. After a couple of months of that I convinced myself to add an occasional "real" beer. And then several months later I was back to my vodka. Five years passed before my second rehab. I'm 22 years sober now 👍

I mean we‘re okay with diet soda so what’s wrong with alcohol free wine and beer? Especially as I get older it’s nice to be able to enjoy the drinks I like without the alcohol. They’re also less calories in most cases.

I'm taking an extended break from alcohol that could become permanent, who knows, but NA beer tastes comforting and for me personally probably reduces cravings instead of causing them
